Commonwealth Approves Succession of HRH Prince Charles as Next Head

The United Kingdom hosted the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), between April 16 and 20, 2018, marking what was believed to be the last time the Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II, would address the gathering because of her age. In her address on April 19, 2018, to the representatives of the 53 member states, Her Majesty asked that the Commonwealth heads of government approve the succession of her eldest son, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, to the leadership of the Commonwealth when she no longer leads it. The heads of government, meeting next day (April 20, 2018) in Windsor approved the succession of Prince Charles.
